Protective Charms
A protective charm is a small object that you carry, wear or keep at home as a sign of protection. Each charm is a physical item that Shakir prepares and blesses before it is sent.
Before you order, you are told what the actual charm is and what it is made of, and you get a photo of it. If you would rather have a ritual than an item, see protection rituals.

Meaning and tradition
Many cultures have objects that people keep close for protection: a bead worn on the wrist, a small pouch in a pocket, a sign hung by the door. They are a way of showing that a person or a home is cared for.
In many African traditions, people believe a blessed charm keeps good wishes close to a person or a home. Shakir's practice comes from African tradition. This is a matter of belief, and a charm does not replace real safety measures.

What it cannot do
- No charm can promise protection from harm, illness, bad luck or another person's actions.
- A charm is not a safety measure. Keep locking your doors, wearing a seatbelt and following medical advice.
- If you are in danger, call the police or your local emergency number first.
How to order
- 1Send a request saying which charm you would like, and whether it is for you or for your home.
- 2After a consultation, Shakir tells you what the charm is made from, sends a photo of it, and agrees the all-inclusive price, delivery and timing with you.
- 3Once you have paid, the charm is prepared, blessed and sent to you.

Questions about protective charms
Will a protective charm keep me safe?
No charm can promise that. It is a traditional symbol, not a safety device. Keep taking your usual precautions, and if you feel unsafe, contact the police or a local support service.
Can I keep the charm at home instead of carrying it?
Ask Shakir at the consultation. How to keep and look after the charm is explained before you order. Wherever you keep it, put it out of reach of small children and pets.
Can a charm be sent to any country?
Not always. Some countries, such as Australia, can check, hold or destroy items made with herbs, seeds, wood, bone or feathers. Shakir tells you what the charm is made of before you order, so you can check your local import rules. Read shipping and delivery too.
